i like the layering of the images and how the shapes lead me through the whole piece (particularly the hind quarters leading through to the dove). but, i wouldn't call it abstract. what do you mean, content or execution?

I guess I meant content cause it's a little strange. Been reading a lot of illustration books and folk art books lately. Wish there was more published folk art. most of the stuff is the conservative boring stuff or floral art. I know it's out there it is just a matter of finding it.
I went to an interesting offsite a couple of weeks ago at the clayton brothers studio. they are having a show at the pasadena museum of california art. i don't like their work as much as i like the process and some of their influences. after the meeting i certainly had more interest and respect for their work. lots of folk influences.
they are pretty approachable.

Sounds pretty neat. I like there stuff a lot. Especially their new work, the craftsmanship is a lot higher. I will have to check out their show. maybe we'll go together ol' friend. Did you get my email I sent last week to Disney address?

This Friday I'm taking a bunch of folks to the Huntington for an interesting show they're having. The sculpts and puppets of a stop motion film maker named John Frame.

Somehow this kindly reminds me of Mackintosh's Mack Toffee Bars. Perhaps because the of the colours and the association of the monsters to Halloween.
I guess that's the beauty of abstract pieces... it can trigger a wider range of memories/emotions/etc.
